I dunno, that system wasn't around long... My memory is a little fuzzy and I didn't really get enough time to learn how that system worked.
BTW: This was beta testing
|
i think you might be going back into alpha testing, but maybe it was beta. it's been a long time haha..but yea they did try that at first.

When capping an Elite you had to wait til the boss actually used it.

I only remember doing that in the Betas to capture Vigorous Spirit on my way through the Shiverpeaks, not an elite skill though^^

alright this has to be one of the best updates: remember when chests didnt need keys? and then they were in same place and dropped crap
Chests and Loot
The landscape of Tyria is now dotted with new, randomly positioned locked chests, which are guaranteed to contain uncommon or better items. These chests largely replace the old system of unlocked chests with predictable positions and common loot.
Whenever your party finds a new, locked chest, multiple party members can each use their own keys to unlock the chest and get their own loot.
Monsters randomly drop chest keys, and you can also buy chest keys from Merchants.
Added Superior Salvage Kits and Superior Identification Kits, which are the same as Expert Salvage Kits and Identification Kits except with 100 charges instead of 25.
Improved the quality of most Crafter and Collector Weapons.

Probably one of the most useful updates they added to the game.

I was around for the refund points days, not sure if they were the elite-capping difficulty days aswell as I was far too n00bie to be capping elites.
Can someone just put something to rest in my brain, was there ever a bar which showed your adrenaline buildup? My brain keeps telling me there was, but no-one seems to remember it. So I'm guessing there wasnt.

Yeah, I remember there being a growing controversy about chest running, and the easy access to cash (whether it was merch fodder or not).

Not since the release of prophecies. Each adrenaline skill has had its own progress indicator. Adrenaline worked somewhat differently in the betas.

IWAY, Ranger Spike, Smiters, trappers, and N/Mos + Spirit Spammer. I remember all of that. Rank eventually meant nothing thanks to IWAY. Also I remember the attribute points thing, that sucked.
I also remember laughing really hard at how much of a joke Crude Swing was.
Also back then you could actually brag about completing Thunderhead Keep with henchies.

I remember when ANet did this one update that was anti-55 monk and all of them, plus other farming builds, refused to log off the server. ANet had to shut down the servers for a bit just to force them off.
I'm pretty sure it was the introduction of Loot Scaling.
